INDIANAPOLIS — Two officers are being hailed as heroes by hundreds of Hoosiers after they helped deliver a baby out of a mini-van.On Sunday, at exactly 2:27 p.m., the reports that officers Samantha Raber and Gabrielle Uhrin were completing a call in the 800 block of East Hoffer St. when a child ran and told them his mother was in labor.

2 Indiana officers help deliver baby on side of the road while on duty

Two Indiana officers are being recognized for their quick thinking to help a woman give birth on the side of the road.It happened Sunday around 2:27 p.m. when two Kokomo police officers, Samantha Raber and Gabrielle Uhrin, were on a call when a child ran toward them from a van, saying his mother was having a baby inside the vehicle.The officers sprang into action and went to the van where they found a woman in active labor.The officers immediately called for a medic while helping guide her and deliver the baby.Shortly after the baby was delivered, the medics arrived and took the mother and baby to a nearby hospital.The mother and baby are doing fine, police reported.
