Pinson man, 43, identified as suspect fatally shot in struggle with Birmingham police

Authorities have released the name of a man who was fatally shot during a struggle with Birmingham police inside a restaurant. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Armonda Contreras. He was 43 and lived in Pinson. The shooting happened at 7:01 p.m. Monday and he was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital at 11:15 p.m., according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
