A man is recovering after an argument between him and a group of men who were harassing his girlfriend led to a shootout outside a Philadelphia Chickie’s & Pete’s restaurant Thursday night, according to police. Police said the ordeal began inside the Chickie’s & Pete’s on 4010 Robbins Avenue when a group of men started harassing a woman who was on a date with her 23-year-old boyfriend.
A boy riding a bike was struck by a pickup truck and the driver is in custody after witnesses say he tried to flee on foot before being badly beaten by a small crowd. The 12-year-old boy was riding a bike on South 8th Street and West Oregon Avenue in Philadelphia around 4:10 p.m. Wednesday when he was struck by a black Dodge pickup truck that had made a U-turn, police said.

One child died in a crash involving multiple kids on Route 55 in South Jersey Wednesday night. Five people, including at least three children, were involved in the crash on the northbound lanes of the highway in Cumberland County a little before midnight, county 911 dispatchers said.
One man was killed while another man was injured after a drill rig collapsed in Philadelphia's University City Tuesday night. The drill rig was offloading equipment from a tractor-trailer and placing it in a work site on the 3100 block of Convention Avenue shortly before 8:30 p.m. when it tipped over and collapsed.

A pilot died after a small plane crashed into a wooded area behind a Doylestown residential neighborhood on Tuesday morning. A Lynn man has been arrested in connection with the death of his mother at their Massachusetts home, authorities said Sunday. Investigators say they found 80-year-old Katherine Paratore dead inside the Jenness Street home she shared with her son around 8 p.m. Friday night. Authorities say Katherine Paratore suffered multiple injuries but did not elaborate on the nature of those injuries.
