After the Miami Hurricanes’ disappointing 2-3 start, coach Manny Diaz noticed that dissension and friction had trickled into the team’s locker room, with some veteran players losing playing time to younger players. “There were some sit-down, one-on-ones saying, ‘Look, if you’re not happy with your role now, if you don’t raise your level of play, it’s going to get worse and we’re going to have to move on,” Diaz said.

She founded Delray Beach’s venerable Old School Square arts and entertainment venue 32 years ago. Now Frances Bourque is desperately trying to maintain her role over the center. ASK IRA: With Heat’s main roster complete, should it be?

A: No. There still are names remaining on the NBA free-agent list that arguably would make the Heat better. It’s just that where the Heat stand at the moment makes such an addition particularly costly because of the luxury tax. Without such concerns, the Heat almost assuredly would be carrying a 15th man.

A charmer or a bully? Marlon Bolton carves his path with charisma and confrontation

Whatever you say about Marlon Bolton, there’s no denying he’s determined. Whether sparring with political opponents or facing criticism of his church or navigating his rocky personal life, the Tamarac city commissioner — so far — has always come out on top. Young and confident, he was the first Black person ever elected to the Tamarac City Commission, and voters returned him to office overwhelmingly despite a bruising campaign rife with falsehoods and racial allegations.
