Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital is expanding its building, the largest expansion since the hospital opened in 2010. The four-story, $94.5 million expansion is part of Le Bonheur’s long-term growth trajectory, according to a release from the hospital. The expansion includes enlarging the cardiovascular and neonatal floors, as well as the surgery recovery area and main floor.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - As medical professionals continue to battle COVID-19 cases found in children, another virus is gaining momentum: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). “We saw a few months ago that the cases were rising in Florida, so we were expecting that we would see it here in the Mid-South pretty soon,” said Dr. Nick Hysmith, Medical Director of Infection Prevention at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
Memphis Police said Wednesday afternoon a child was injured in a shooting. Officers were called to the scene in the 3100 block of Sharpe Avenue about 2:15 p.m. That’s just east of Lamar Avenue and north of I-240. Investigators said a juvenile was taken to Le Bonheur in non-critical condition.
