'A space to reflect and remember'

Hexham Abbey angels turned blue for NHS birthday Hexham Abbey’s angel installation was lit up blue on Monday to honour the NHS. Monday, July 5, was NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers’ Day and the abbey not only marked it by lighting its exhibition of paper angels blue, but also ringing out 73 bells to mark the number of years since the NHS was created.

Hexham Abbey hosts angel display in Covid tribute

Installation of angels at Hexham Abbey which symbolise lives affected by Covid takes shape AN AERIAL installation of origami angels placed above the Choirstalls of the Hexham Abbey is taking shape. The angels symbolise those whose lives have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic; this may involve remembering lives lost in the last year or celebrating those who have helped others - it could be an NHS professional who has stood out, a key worker or any individual or group who has helped in any way during the recent challenging times.
