JUST IN! Major Panic Spreads As Mark Zuckerberg’s Apps, Whatsapp, Facebook And Instagram Experience Major Crash

Family of apps, including Instagram and Messenger, encountering problems but company spokesman says it is not a cyber-attack. All four of the company’s main applications – Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger – were encountering problems, according to Downdetector.com.

Facebook has been suffering outages across the world on Wednesday.

The company’s main social network, its two messaging apps and image-sharing site Instagram were all affected. Facebook has yet to offer an explanation for the outage. The last time Facebook had a disruption of this magnitude was in 2008, when the site had 150m users – compared with around 2.3bn monthly users today.

Recall that in March when the sites encountered this problem, the company spokesman said: “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.” Parnell subsequently added: “We’re focused on working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, but can confirm the issue is not related to a DDoS attack.” A distributed denial of service attack is a type of cyber-attack in which a perpetrator can flood a website or platform with so much virtual traffic that it shuts down.

Those on Instagram have not been able to refresh feeds or post new material. Facebook Messenger’s desktop version did not load – but the mobile app appeared to allow the sending of some messages; however, users reported glitches with other kinds of content, such as images. WhatsApp, Facebook’s other messaging app, had similar problems.
