JUST IN: Shi’ites Storm Lagos, Demand Immediate Release Of El-Zakzaky (VIDEOS + PHOTOS)

Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), otherwise known as Shi’ites, are currently holding a protest in Lagos, calling for the release of their leader, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.

This protest is coming after the Shi’ites staged a protest for the same reason at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja few days ago. Things however deteriorated quickly as it turned into an attack with reports having it that a policeman was shot in the head during the attack.

This made the House of Reps to call on the President to grant the IMN their wish and release their leader El-Zakzaky in order to avert another Boko Haram experience.

Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, had been placed in detention since 2015 after members of sect clashed with the miltary men following an altercation with Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff.

On the 2rd of December 2016, a High Court ordered that he should be released within 45 days while awarding him a payment of N50 million in damages. He has however not been released up till the present day.
