Nigerian on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, recorded 184 new cases of COVID-19 in 22 states of the federation. This now brings the total of 4,971 active cases of COVID-19 in the country since late February.

The latest data from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) also shows that 111 patients were discharged, making the total number of recoveries 1,070.




Presidency Raises Alarm Over Fake ‘Prof. Ibrahim Gambari’

The Presidency has notified Nigerians over the emergence of fake accounts of the new Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari on social media platforms just a few hours after his appointment.

However, the Presidency has informed Nigerians to disregard these accounts and said that the new Chief of Staff does not have official accounts on any social media platform.


Lagos Speaker Allegedly Collects N53m To Travel With Mistress To America

According to Sahara Reporters, Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa allegedly received N53m from the Lagos state treasury and used the public funds to travel with his mistress to the United States of America.

Obasa allegedly got the House to approve the fund to expedite the trip to Georgia for the 2019 US-Nigeria Trade and Investment Global Summit which he was scheduled to attend with other members of the Assembly.


Doyin Okupe Reveals Drugs He Used To Beat COVID-19

Top Nigerian politician and former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe has come out to reveal the drugs he used to beat COVID-19.

On his official Twitter page, Okupe stated that he took “Hydroxychloroquine 400mg twice daily for 2days then 400mg daily for 3days. Azithromycin 500mg fly, Zinc sulphate 100mg dly. VitzC 1200mg daily“and “a mixture of ginger, garlic, tumeric and lemon.


INEC Orders Resumption Of Activities In Edo, Ondo offices Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

Despite close to 5,000 active cases of COVID-19 recorded in Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has ordered the resumption of activities in its offices in Edo and Ondo respectively.

INEC however stressed that the re-opening of these offices must be done in “consultation with the state governments for the issuance of necessary permits” according to The Guardian.



Niger Starts Manhunt For COVID-19 On The Run

Niger state that it has launched a manhunt for a COVID-19 patient who absconded from the isolation centre in the state capital, Minna.

According to the state government, the patient had started “manifesting symptoms of the disease” before he ran away.


Kwara State Governor Sacks Driver For Mishandling COVID-19 Patient

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara has ordered the immediate sack of an unidentified government driver who is a member of the state’s COVID-19 Rapid Response Team after attending to a suspected COVID-19 patient “in an unprofessional manner.”

On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, a video of the the response team evacuating a suspected COVID-19 patient went viral as none of the members of the team wore any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) recommended by the World Health Organisation.


Oyedepo Kicks Against Compulsory COVID-19 Vaccine

Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church, popularly known as Winners Chapel, is vehemently against the bill to make COVID-19 vaccines compulsory in the country.

The popular Man of God said the bill is being coordinated by evil people. “Evil scheming of evil men, gang up of agents of the devil, trying to bring a flood of evil upon humanity. And now from the vaccine: autism; from the vaccine: higher mortality rate of deaths”, he said during a live broadcast.


9 Boko Haram Terrorists Killed In Clash With Nigerian Army

On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, the Nigerian Army stated its troops had killed 9 members of the Boko Haram insurgents in Borno state.

“So far, nine Boko Haram terrorists lost their lives, two gun trucks mounted with anti-aircraft guns have been captured and exploitation is ongoing by the troops. Two soldiers are slightly wounded” said the Nigerian Army in a statement about the gunfire.
