Nigerians on social media have lambasted presidential aide Bashir Ahmad for praising the Nigerian Military for recording a bomb free Sallah celebration.
Mr. Ahmad was reacting to reports that the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai gave himself a pass mark for ensuring security during the Islamic holiday.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, was reported to have said that the Nigerian Army has performed well in its fight against insurgents and terrorists in Nigeria and urged troops in Maiduguri to be loyal, obedient, and sacrificial in their operational conduct.
Bashir, who’s Buhari’s new media aide, reacted by saying, “Many Sallah, Christmas without bombs. Thank you COAS and Nigerian troops.”

That was soon trailed with plenty of backlash; some of which you can find below.
The days without bomb, you guys blow a loud trumpet to massage your egos but on days where scores are killed in cold blood, you guys unlook, you pretend all is well, not even a word of empathy to families of the victims. A defeaning silence follows every attack by BH.

No insult meant, but whenever statements such as this emanate from the presidency, it only shows the hollowness of those circulating the news.
Did you ask how many people celebrated this Sallah with empty stomachs?
Those who celebrated it in kidnappers den?
Let’s be compassionate

Without bombs like there were attempts and army intercepted. They simply didn’t plan to attack and stop trying to score some political points
