The marathon like journey to validate the victory of Osun gubernatorial contest was delivered by the Supreme Court that affirmed Gbenga Oyetola as the Governor of Osun State.
The most eminent court in Nigeria declared the election of the Court of Appeal which struck out the judgement of the Osun State election petition tribunal that gave the trump card to the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party Senator Isiaka Adeleke as the winner of the 22 and 27 September elections. The split judgement on Friday where five judges confirmed Oyetola while two consented for Adeleke.
With this development there’s calm after the storm that has affected the wheel of development in the Land of Virtue, where both parties have sought to achieve the validation of their mandate through the law courts. The Supreme Court ruling was read by Bode Rhodes Vivour agreed with the lower court that the absence of Justice Peter Obiorah from the proceedings of February 6, 2019 who delivered the lead judgement was fatal to the case of the appellants..
The fiat has given Oyetola the mantle to direct the affairs in Osun for the next four years and the APC candidate has emerged as the beautiful bride in the scheme of things after the near clean sweep 22 out of 26 seats in the Osun State House of Assembly elections in March 2019. Politicians and their ilk will now drool to seek the attention of the number one man to secure appointments in the State cabinet, ministries, departments and relevant agencies. Oyetola’s golden boy status has been cemented in the political firmament and the next level is to deliver the democratic dividends to the sons and daughters of Sun State.
