The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has issued a statement through its Deputy National Chairman, Elder Yemi Akinwonmi to the European Union revealing that Nigerians are living in despotic times under President Mohammadu Buhari.
He said that the APC led federal government had greatly eroded the country’s economy, thereby calling on the intervention of the international community to save the Nigerian democracy. He had noted that if the alleged anti democratic excesses of the government are not curtailed, the upcoming generation may find it quite difficult to experience a democratic government.
His statement had read in part:
“We are now living in a despotic environment. We are now living in time of strange changes. Nigeria is fast becoming a failed state. The international community should beam its searchlight on Nigeria. What is going on Nigeria must not go unchecked if you want democracy to survive,” Akinwonmi stated.
He also added that in addition to endangering the economy, the government had weakened the Nigerian Naira so much so that the economy was greatly impoverished and lacking.
