Much uproar has been generated by the issue of retirement or purported extension of the tenure of the Police IG’s term in office considering that he ought to have retired as at January 3rd but then considering closeness to the election period, there were rumours his tenure may be extended.
However it seems this is being layed to rest as there are indications that a new police boss is being expected to be sworn in.
President Muhammadu Buhari may appoint another Inspector General of Police today . Top on the list of officers to replace Ibrahim Idris, who reportedly met with the president at the State House yesterday afternoon , is Adamu Mohammed. According to police sources, such a visit has become a tradition for outgoing inspectors-general in recent years.
As tweeted by Dele Momodu in reaction to reports that Police IG, Ibrahim Idris has officially retired after his 35-years in service elapsed on January 3rd. He’s reported to have been replaced by AIG Adamu Muhammed.
