Super Eagles assistant captain set for international ban?

Could William Troost Ekong be in line for a ban from international football by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)?

This is according to UK-based Nigerian journalist, Osasu Obayiuwana.

‘Osasu’, as Obayiuwana is usually called, recently had an interviewed with Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, where they spoke on a wide range of issues, especially as they concern Nigerian football and the senior Nigerian national team.

However, in a series of tweets, Osasu claimed he has been informed by top officials of the NFF and members of the Super Eagles backroom staff that Ekong’s attitude has been causing serious disaffection in the team.

He quoted an unnamed backroom staff of the Super Eagles as saying, “When @WTroostEkong (Ekong) came to the team, he was one of the best-behaved players in the team. But he hardly shows respect for anyone now. He’s a big-shot player in @SerieA with @Udinese_1896.”

But according to Osasu, he raised the issue with Rohr, whom he quoted as saying, “I have not had any complaints about @WTroostEkong, so I am surprised to hear them from you. I have never had any problems with William. He has always behaved properly, in my opinion.”

Meanwhile, Ekong is yet to make any statement regarding the claims.
