Cameroon head coach, Clarence Seedorf, has left goalkeeping legend, Carlos Kameni, on the bench for Indomitable Lions’ opening match with Guinea-Bissau at Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019.
Kameni, who is the most capped member of the defending champions’ squad to this year’s AFCON in Egypt, has been overlooked in favour of Ajax star, Andre Onana,
Also in Seedorf’s first starting line-up at AFCON is Olympiacos defender, Yaya Banana, who starts alongside Sparta Prague’s Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui at the heart of the Indomitable Lions’ defence.
Ngadjui scored the winner as Cameroon came from a goal down to get a 2-1 victory when both countries last met during a group stage clash at AFCON 2017.
While he may not be on the scoresheet, the defender would be hoping for a similar result in what would be fourth ever meeting between both nations.
Meanwhile, Cameroon’s attack will be led by captain, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who forms part of a three-pronged frontline Karl Toko Ekambi of Spanish club Villarreal and Christian Bassogog who plays for Henan Jianye in the Chinese Super League.
