Paris Saint-German duo of Neymar Junior and Kylian Mbappe have been long term transfer targets for Real Madrid and it looks like the dream may come true now after the latest report about the two strikers that may lead to the sale of one of them.
Both Neymar and Mbappe joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017 and have been the superstars of the club, with the Frenchman stepping up while the Brazilian was out due to injury, but a poor run of form for the Ligue One champions has led to a rift between the two players.
PSG set a poor mark after a terrible run condemned them to their worst defensive record in years, and also a loss in the French Cup final that led to a fall out between Neymar and the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, which leaves the door open to Real Madrid to make a move.
The two PSG stars had a fall out after Neymar heavily criticised the attitude of the squad’s young people, while Kylian Mbappe took offence at the words, believing he was referring to him and did not take it well and Spanish giant, Real Madrid are ready to swoop for either striker.
The future of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar has been placed under intensifying scrutiny amid reports the duo have fallen out after losing the French Cup final. According to Sport, Neymar’s criticism of the ‘young people’ in the PSG squad upset the 20-year-old Mbappe, who felt it referred to him. Mbappe had just been sent off in the French Cup final defeat on penalties by Rennes.
Real Madrid are reportedly keeping a close eye on how things unfold and are prepared to make a move for whichever of the two strikers decides they must leave the Parc des Princes. Mbappe placed his own PSG future in doubt on Sunday when he collected the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award.
Mbappe said: “This is a very important moment for me, I am arriving at maybe the first or second turning point in my career. I have learned so much here, and I feel it’s maybe the time to have more responsibility. Maybe at PSG, that would give me great pleasure, or maybe elsewhere for a new project.”
The pair both moved to PSG in the summer of 2017 with Neymar costing £198m and Mbappe eventually costing £166m after an initial season-long loan.
