JUST IN: Buhari Blows HOT, Breaks Silence On Igbo Elders’ ‘Endorsement’ Of Atiku

President Muhammadu Buhari has finally reacted to the purported endorsement of Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party by a group of Igbo Elders.

President Buhari said it did not surprise him since there is a split within the Ohanaeze Igbo socio-cultural group.

Speaking at a meeting with a select group of South-east leaders on Friday, at the State House, Abuja, President Buhari said that the moment the so-called resolution was announced, he got calls from well-meaning leaders from the region asking him to disregard it as it was without any substance.

According to him, “From that moment, I knew that the resolution would not stand, and alas, there it was.”

President Buhari said that his party, the All Progressives Congress, got it right from the very beginning and that the major problems facing the country were mainly on security, corruption and the economy.

“We have done so much. Given the chance, we will do more. Given every chance, we will tell Nigerians where we were in 2015 and what we have achieved up to now.

“We will not get tired of speaking about the golden opportunity Nigeria lost during 16 years of the PDP. We earned money, which we didn’t use,” he said.

“The state of infrastructure we inherited was terrible – no roads, the railway was killed and power. They lacked conscience because anybody with conscience will not do what they did. We will report them to Nigerians. Let anybody lead this country but not the PDP. They were so reckless with the resources of the country,” the President said.

“If you ruin the economy, send your children abroad to get education, won’t they come back?” he asked, adding: “I said it 30 years ago that this is the only country we have. We must stay here and salvage it together.”

The leaders of the delegation, Emeka Ekwuosa, and the National Chairman of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Chekwas Okorie, informed President Buhari that the Igbos and South-easterners generally understood the good things he was doing for Nigeria which they said, had unfortunately been misunderstood.

They promised to mobilise support for him in the south-east, saying that his re-election will be a national consensus.

This Is What Guinea Bissau President Told Buhari In Abuja

President Jose Mario Vaz of Guinea Bissau on Thursday at the Presidential Villa, briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on the forthcoming general elections in that country.

NAN reports that Legislative elections are expected to be held in Guinea-Bissau in December 2018 or January 2019.

They were scheduled for Nov. 18 following an ECOWAS brokered agreement between President Mário Vaz and the opposition in April but the electoral census will not be completed until November 20.

Addressing State House correspondents after the meeting, President Mario Vaz said it is duty bound on his part to brief President Buhari, who is current chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), on development developments in Guinea Bissau.

Mario Vaz, who spoke in French, said he also used the opportunity to seek for advice from the Nigerian leader, whom he described as his senior brother.

“I had the opportunity to brief him about the situation in Guinea Bissau – the ongoing Voters’ registration process going on in Guinea Bissau.

“As you may be aware of and international community may be aware of, Guinea Bissau was scheduled to hold elections on November 18.

“But we have come to the conclusion that it won’t be possible, and that is the reason why I came to see my older brother so that I can seek his advice and brief him about the situation,” he said.

President Mario Vaz, therefore, described the outcome of his meeting with President Buhari as very fruitful and he would be going back home very much encouraged.

He pledged to adhere to all the advices given to him by the president, adding that he would also apply fully all the suggestions made during the meeting.

Mario Vaz, who has since left for Guinea Bissau, thanked President Buhari and the Nigerian government for their support and assistance to his country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the federal government recently approved 500,000 dollars electoral kits and number of vehicles to support the conduct of legislative election in Guinea Bissau.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, confirmed this development in October when Jose Filho, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General to Guinea Bissau, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

“In addition, Mr President has approved the supply of vehicles with about 500,000 dollars,” he said.

Onyeama said the donations were to help Guinea Bissau get out of what had been “a very difficult situation for a number of years.”

APC alleged that Atiku’s wealth a mirage!

While the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the  APC, Yekini Nabena, said the PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar were at a crossroads on how to source funds for the 2019 electioneering campaign, PDP warned the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to stop the “fixation” on its Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Nabena, who had earlier asked security agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding the Dubai meeting of Atiku and the PDP, had also accused them of trying to use the said meeting to launder funds for the elections.

However, in apparent reaction to the purported search of Atiku’s aircraft by security operatives on his arrival from Dubai, Nabena noted that due to the stringent measures put in place by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, the opposition party was now in a dilemma on how to source funds to run the Atiku Presidential Campaign.

Nabena in the statement alleged that available information from the PDP’s recent strategy meeting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, indicated that there was a major setback as the hope of sourcing campaign funds from public coffers was dashed.

APC on Atiku ‘s campaign finances He said: “The Presidential candidate expects the party to provide funds for his campaign. This is the Buhari Era, an era of strict accountability and transparency in the use and application of public funds and not the Jonathan Era in 2015 when the national treasury was opened to PDP leaders to prosecute the Presidential campaign.

“The party leaders are, therefore, in serious difficulty and dilemma on how to source funds to run the Atiku Presidential Campaign. Some financiers of the party expect that the candidate, having bought the ticket with millions of dollars should have the financial capacity to run his campaign. ‘’With the candidate’s expectation that it is the party that will fund his campaign, it is now clear that they are at a crossroads and the chickens have come home to roost.

“The anti-corruption agencies should gird their loins and ensure that all sources of campaign funds by political parties are closely monitored and recover the funds looted during the Jonathan era. Such recovered funds should be applied for the benefit of the poor masses who were denied democracy dividends during the 16 years misrule of the PDP.

“It is now clear to the members of the PDP who were deceived into believing that their presidential candidate is a man of stupendous wealth that it is all a mirage, a 419 packaging and that they entered a ‘one chance’ bus. “As we approach February 2019 when General Elections will be held in Nigeria, the electorate are becoming more conscious and aware of the deceitful nature of their so-called leaders.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the PDP is nationally known as a man of immense wealth. ‘’Apart from his being a retired officer of the Department of Customs and Excise not above the rank of Deputy Director, and not known to have been an exceptionally successful businessman, his claims to stupendous wealth and sources are questionable and lack credibility.

“During the ‘dollar rain’ at the Port Harcourt Convention of the Party, he outspent all the other aspirants and easily clinched the party’s Presidential ticket. Having emerged without the support of the ‘Governor-General’ of the party, who had earlier produced the party’s National Chairman and ordered the party to hold its convention in Port Harcourt, Alhaji Atiku is now on ‘his own’ in bankrolling his campaign.

“The Nigerian Electorate has a better alternative- to stick to the clean, honest and transparent leadership of Muhammadu Buhari, who has done so much to ensure better future for them after the 16 years misrule of the PDP”, he added. Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, warned the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to stop the “fixation” on its Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The party was reacting to a statement made by the party wherein it said the PDP and Atiku were broke, lacking the resources to fund its campaign. But reacting on behalf of the party, PDP spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, said Nigerians had resolved to vote out the APC in 2019, adding that the ruling party was becoming jittery by the day over its fear of defeat at the polls. He said: “APC is jittery but what is even their business about the state of our finances. 2019 is not about who has more money but about the need to rescue Nigeria.

“Having seen through their lies, Nigerians have resolved to vote out the incompetent and clueless Buhari. They can say whatever they like but our advice to them is that they should start packing their bags because their time is up. “They have nothing to offer but Nigerians want Atiku to come and heal our land and Insha Allah, Atiku will send Buhari home in 2019.”

51 Countries in support of new rules for Cybersecurity

Fifty-one states, including all EU members, have pledged their support for a new international agreement to set standards on cyberweapons and the use of the internet, the French government said Monday. The states have signed up to a so-called “Paris Call for Trust and Security in Cyberspace”, an attempt to kickstart stalled global negotiations. China, Russia and the United States did not sign the pledge, reflecting their resistance to setting standards for cyberweapons which are at the cutting edge of modern warfare.

“We need norms to avoid a war in cyberspace which would be catastrophic,” French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said Monday.

Campaigners have called for a “Digital Geneva Convention”, a reference to the Geneva conventions that set standards for the conduct of wars.

They want states to commit to not attacking infrastructure which is depended upon by civilians during wartime, for example.

A new international norm would also help define a state-backed cyberattack and when a state could be justified in retaliating. Dozens of countries are thought to have developed offensive cyberweapons. “We need to move these norms forward,” Microsoft president Brad Smith said on Monday at the Paris Peace Forum, being held to mark the centenary of the end of World War I. In a presentation at the forum, Smith portrayed cyberweapons as having the potential to spark another mass conflict.

– Global ‘wake-up call’ –

He said 2017 was a “wake-up call for the world” because of the WannaCry and NotPetya attacks. WannaCry crippled many hospitals in Britain and affected 150 countries in 24 hours. It is thought to have been deployed from North Korea. Many experts attribute NotPetya, which hit banking, power and business computing systems across Ukraine, to Russia.

But security officials note that those two attacks appear to be based on code stolen from the US National Security Agency, which leads the country’s cyber-defences. “In a world where everything is being connected, anything can be affected, which is why we need to come together,” Smith added. The text of the Paris call will be presented by French President Emmanuel Macron as he opens UNESCO’s Internet Governance Forum in Paris on Monday. It has also been signed by 93 civil society groups and 218 companies, Le Drian said. “To respect people’s rights and protect them online as they do in the physical world, states must work together, but also collaborate with private-sector partners, the world of research and civil society,” according to the text. Russia has been accused by Western countries of cyber-meddling over the last few years, while huge data breaches online have fuelled calls for new rules governing online behaviour.

”So frustrated today by the situation of this country, the people working at different parastatals actually think they are some kind of god . Ethiopian airline staffs are so inefficient. They refused to carry a passenger for no reason . The girl in question is not a citizen of Nigeria , she went with her France passport and other documents issued by the France consulate , all they needed to do was to verify the passport but no the manager said he is not comfortable with the passport so she can’t fly with them , he actually dropped the passport and took to his heels . Imagine the immigration saying she should get a Nigerian visa , for what ?I don’t know .

How will you ask her to get a Nigerian visa to go to France , I don’t understand this and I need some explanation, after that they said she should get a Nigerian passport, for what please???this is wrong and I am so angry at that . The same manager has agreed to carry the girl with additional cost and all. Which way Nigeria, why are we treated like uneducated animals and why are these people acting like important fools , all you need to do is do your job and do it right . When will this stop . The security at the departure are not helping matters , how can you ask me to pay to let my family see me off to the check in point , this is wrong very wrong . Even the immigration officers wants to collect money for anything they do ….why why why ????.

And I know the mayor @akinwunmiambode of this and every other state can find a lasting solution to this , the president @muhammadubuhari himself can override things to set them right but I bet they don’t even know people are traveling out of the country, check the airport all you see are Nigerians running away from the country. I have never seen an EMIRATI or an AMERICAN that will run away from their country. Until you have no one to govern or be a president over before you know . LONG LIVE SCARED NIGERIANS”

Thank you, Stan Lee, for creating Spider-Man, X-Men and Avengers for us…

The comic writer Stan Lee, co-creator of iconic characters including Iron Man, the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Daredevil and the X-Men, has died aged 95.

Lee, who teamed up with artists such as Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, revitalised the comics industry with his superheroes, giving them complex emotional lives to colour their all-action adventures.

As a writer and editor charged with keeping multiple stories going at the same time, Lee wove them together into a seamless fictional world where Iron Man could join forces with the Fantastic Four, and Captain America could find himself a wedding guest alongside Doctor Strange. The MarvelUniverse he created crossed from page to screen in a series of TV and movie adaptations and changed the face of popular culture.

Stan Lee, John RomitaStan Lee, standing, publisher of Marvel Comics, discusses a “Spiderman” comic book cover with artist John Romita at Marvel headquarters in New York on Jan. 10, 1976. Marvel Comics are the world’s largest seller of comic books. Comic books are big business. More than 200 million are sold in the United States each year. Lee feels the human qualities of his protagonists endear them to readers. (AP Photo)

“He felt an obligation to his fans to keep creating,” his daughter J.C. Lee said in a statement to Reuters. “He loved his life and he loved what he did for a living. His family loved him and his fans loved him. He was irreplaceable.”

She did not mention Lee’s cause of death but the TMZ celebrity news website said an ambulance was called to Lee’s Hollywood Hills home early on Monday, and that he died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Born Stanley Martin Lieber on Manhattan’s Upper West Side in 1922, Lee’s childhood was marked by the Great Depression. In his 2002 autobiography Excelsior!, Lee described how his father’s struggle to find a steady job had forever affected him: “It’s a feeling that the most important thing for a man to do is to have work to do, to be busy, to be needed,” he wrote.

At 17, Lee landed a job at a publishing company owned by his relative Martin Goodman, and began writing scripts for superhero and mystery comics. When Goodman fell out with his editor in 1941, Lee found himself editor-in-chief at just 19.

Apart from a brief stint writing copy for the army during the second world war, Lee spent the next 20 years giving voice to a succession of caped crusaders, cowboys and cops. But as the 60s dawned, the formula was starting to wear thin.

What happened next is the subject of some dispute. According to Lee, Goodman noticed that a rival comic featuring a team of superheroes was selling well and asked him to come up with another. Writing in 1974, Lee recalled wanting to do “something different – something special”. This was “what the marketplace required”, he continued. “But it would be a team such as comicdom had never known … they’d be fallible and feisty and, most important of all, inside their colourful, costumed booties they’d still have feet of clay.” He wrote a detailed first synopsis for the artist Jack Kirby to follow, “and the rest is history”.

But Kirby remembered the creation of the Fantastic Four very differently. Speaking to the Comics Journal in 1989, Kirby claimed he came up with the idea himself, insisting that “Lee and I never collaborated on anything … I used to write the stories just like I always did.” By 1970, Kirby said he’d had a “gut-full of Marvel”, and left for DC Comics. His family won a multimillion dollar settlement from Marvel in 2014, after which Kirby and Lee were credited as co-creators.

There is, however, little dispute that the Fantastic Four launched comics into new territory. Readers bought editions in droves, and over the following years Marvel published hundreds of characters co-created by Lee, including Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and the Silver Surfer. With so many stories running at the same time, Lee began letting the characters from one title crop up in others, creating a fictional universe for readers to explore – and one that made readers buy multiple series to get the whole story.

“stan lee”的图片搜索结果

After spending more than three decades writing scripts every day, Lee took on a new role as publisher of Marvel Comics in 1972. Setting his sights on the wider world, he took Marvel characters into newspaper strips, published a series of books recounting his version of Marvel’s early years and teamed up with Kirby for the last time in 1978 to produce a graphic novel featuring the Silver Surfer. Lee relished his role as the company’s public face, becoming a fixture on the convention scene as the wisecracking, grand old man of the comics industry.

In 1980, he moved to Los Angeles, hoping to launch his creations into TV and film. Over the next two decades, while Lee struggled to get projects off the ground, cinematic superheroes remained in thrall to rival comics powerhouse DC, with a string of adaptations featuring Superman and Batman finding favour at the box office.

A 1990 adaptation of Captain America went straight to video, while a low-budget 1994 version of the Fantastic Four was never released. But in 2000 Bryan Singer’s blockbuster version of X-Men, starring Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Halle Berry, set the template for success – complete with a cameo for Lee as a hot-dog salesman – and the Marvel Universe became a summer fixture in multiplexes across the world. These films – from Iron Man (2008) to Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) – have made a combined $17.6bn (£13.6bn) at the box office.

After the death of his wife Joan in 2017, Lee’s home life and business affairs became the subject of widespread speculation. This year, he filed a $1bn lawsuit against his former company Pow! Entertainment for damages over what he called a “sham deal” with a Chinese company; two months later he dropped the lawsuit, and called it “confusing to everyone”. Police had also investigated allegations of elder abuse, with Lee filing a restraining order against a former business manager, Keya Morgan. Morgan was later accused by Lee’s attorney of taking advantage of Lee’s age to influence and control him.

Speaking to the Guardian in 2000, Lee said that coming up with ideas was the easiest part.

“The hardest part is getting enough people to draw ’em all,” he said. “You know what it’s like? I can’t play a musical instrument to save my life. I’ll ask, say, a guitarist friend how he plays a melody with one hand and chords with the other when he’s only got one brain. He’ll say: ‘Stan, I don’t even think about it, I’ve done it all my life, it’s what I do.’ Well, it’s the same with me. Writing stories is what I do. I think about it, but it’s no problem. I’ve just gotta get the time to do it.”

Let’s say goodbye to the best storyteller, Lee!

Top FIFA referee reveals the shocking reason why Salah’s goal should have been disallowed in Liverpool’s victory over Fulham

Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg has revealed referee Paul Tierney was right to rule out Mitrovic’s goal but said Salah’s goal shouldn’t have stood also in Liverpool’s premier league encounter against Fulham. Jurgen Klopp’s team broke the deadlock in controversial circumstances in their 2-0 victory over Fulham.

Image result for salah

Aleksandar Mitrovic’s headed goal was ruled out for offside and Alisson took the resulting free-kick quickly, launching the counter attack that Mo Salah scored from.

Speaking after the match Clattenburg said; A part of the body that can score a goal only needs to be in an offside position and in this case, Aleksandar Mitrovic is marginally off.

Image result for aleksandar mitrovic vs liverpool

His side and shoulder are behind the last defender, so that was the right call from the assistant.

However, when Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson takes the free-kick, the ball is moving and therefore it is illegal. A retake should have been given by referee Paul Tierney. Instead, play was allowed to carry on and Fulham were punished. In situations when a tight offside has been given and a team is celebrating, usually the referee will delay the match to make sure all players are ready for the retake.

On this occasion, Tierney didn’t and Liverpool capitalised.

BIG FRAUD!!! Probe APC, PDP Primaries SERAP Tells EFCC

The All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party are same of the same and their recent primaries were riddled with a high level of corruption it is been suggested.

In this light, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to investigate allegations of corruption during the recent primaries of the APC and PDP.

In the petition dated November 10, 2018, and signed by its senior legal adviser, Bamisope Adeyanju, the SERAP said allegations of bribe payments by candidates to political parties and party officials would undermine the principles of representative and accountable government.

The petition read: Whether or not the allegations are true, the fact that both parties have repeatedly accused each other of corruption raises significant concerns about the influence of money in Nigerian politics and public positions being given in return for cash. If true, the allegations that officials of leading political parties engaged in corrupt acts would weaken public confidence in the electoral and democratic process, and send a damaging message that public offices are for sale and that politicians are interested in public offices only for themselves and not for the common good.

“The allegations of bribe payments by candidates to political parties and party officials should be thoroughly investigated and anyone suspected to be involved prosecuted if the country’s political parties are to win back the trust of citizens.

“When officials of political parties sell access to public offices in return for money, the entire institutions of governance are invariably compromised. SERAP urges both the EFCC and ICPC to proactively act to ensure a greater level of transparency and accountability and reduce the risk of corruption among political parties if Nigeria is not to continue to witness damaging allegations of corruption involving political parties.”

“Political corruption undermines the fundamental role of political parties in a democratic system including that of serving as an essential tool of expression of the political will of citizens.”

Though not proven, it was alleged that delegates in Port Harcourt were induced with several thousands of Dollars while the PDP conducted its convention to pick its Presidential candidate.

On their part also, there are allegations against the APC and its chairman, Adams Oshiomohole that bribes were collected from aspirants and only the highest bidders ended up as party candidates.

The Department of State Security, DSS are understood to be investigating the allegations against Oshiomohole already.
