Why Many Rich Nigerians Died From COVID-19 – Health Minister
The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, has revealed that many ‘well-to-do’ and highly educated Nigerians constitute many of the fatalities from COVID-19 in Nigeria.
According to the Minister who spoke at the daily Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 briefing on Tuesday, many of these well-to-do Nigerians preferred home treatment and reported late to care centres.
Zamfara Accuses NCDC Of Inflating Figures
The Zamfara State Government, on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, claimed that the NCDC was wrong by inflating 10 new COVID-19 cases in the state when it announced the figures for Monday.
The state government said that it only recorded two new cases and not 10.
Senators Demand Immediate Reversal Of Power Privatisation
The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 asked the Federal Government to consider a comprehensive review of the power privatisation policy with a view to reversing the current arrangement.
The senators noted that Nigerians would not enjoy constant power supply in the next decade if the distribution companies were not reviewed and restructured.

The Senate continued its list of demands on Tuesday as it asked has asked the Buhari led administration, to take the issue of the completion of the Ajaokuta steel complex urgently.
The Upper House also appealed to Ministry of Transport to complete the Ajaokuta-Okaba rail line to facilitate the operations of the Ajaokuta steel plant.

Nigerian Navy Rescues 18 Chinese Crew Members From Pirates
The PUNCH reports that the Nigerian Navy has rescued 18 Chinese crew members of a vessel named MV HAILUFANG II, from pirates attack in the Gulf of Guinea.
According to the report, the crew members also consisted of Ghanaians and Ivoirians who were attacked by pirates on May 15, 2020, off the coast of Cote d’Ivoire.
