Dubai-based Nigerian singer, Fricky J, vows to take Nigerian music industry by storm

A rising Nigerian singer based in Dubai, Nniga Ernest Joe-Chim, popularly known as Fricky J, has expressed determination to thrill fans unlike before in the Nigerian music scene, in hit hot releases.

Though, as he put it, the hardship, toils and disappointments of life, could have pushed many Nigerians to seek a life of contentment or affluence elsewhere, but for him, he has taken advantage of every situation to develop himself and be a good ambassador of Nigeria.

From his base, speaking about his background, Fricky J, said he grew up from an average Nigerian family, and they were neither poor nor rich.

But the Political Science graduate of Tansian University in Umuahia, Anambra State, with M.Sc in criminology from University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, Lagos, said his he sent his parent in rage, as he opted for music over what is perceived “a normal career.”

For his choice to drop his certificates for music, Fricky J, said at first, he was chastised by his family but with time, when he started making waves, his family had no choice but to support their own, likewise he said, his friends were also very supportive.

With his monster hit “Calabar Girls” and his subsequent musical success, Fricky J, currently residing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), said he has toured other countries in advancing his musical career.

“The release date of a new song titled “Ego” where I was featured by colleague and singer, ‘Maxmarcel’ is yet to be determined, however, I urge my fans to expect a come back to the Nigerian music industry,” Fricky J said.

With major plans to flaunt his own record label “South-South Records” Fricky J said he has high hopes that he would be able to assist as many street talents as possible, as he said, “I wish to give youngsters an early platform to present their talents to the world.”

Pending the lifting of travel restrictions, Fricky J said he wishes to return to Nigeria and facilitate a music collaboration with Wizkid and Patoranking.

“When it comes to dedication, talent and hard work, Wizkid and Patoranking are high up there. I wish to someday be on a record with them, it will be my biggest dream come through but it is surely not beyond my reach. I am closer than I was yesterday to realizing my dream.”
