Nigeria singer Kizz Daniel has carved a spectacular niche for himself in way that makes his music indispensable and he deserves all the accolades for that.
Kiss Daniel has had an incredible career since he started in the year 2013. It would be a unfair to be reduce his accomplishments by baseless comparisons. Like most artists, he took an interest in music at an early age but fully launched into the career after he was done with his college education.
They say good things come to those who wait. So when Kizz Daniel finally broke into the music industry, it was like a breath of fresh air. He started out with Emperor Geezy, the CEO of G-Worldwide Entertainment. After being signed to G-Worldwide entertainment, he released his first official single “Shoye” which was produced by Beatburx on May 1, 2014, along with a music video that was directed by MEX. But ‘Shoye’ didn’t catch a lot of attention
The singer broke out with his second single “Woju” on September 1, 2014. Just like Davido broke out with his second single ‘Dami Duro’, Kizz Daniel’s Woju was an instant hit. The song spent eleven weeks on the MTV Base Official Naija Top Ten, including six weeks at the number one spot.
Daniel then recorded and released a remix of “Woju” featuring Tiwa Savage and Davido. “Woju” and its remix peaked at Number 1 and Number 2 respectively on the MTV Base Official Naija Top 10, the first time that an original song and its remix would peak at the first and second positions on the chart. A cover of the song performed by 2face Idibia also appeared online.
If there’s one thing to note about Kizz Daniel, it would be that he knows how to catch the attention and what’s incredible about him is that the rave around his music would be so intense that even celebrities are following up with the hype. Do you remember how the Fvck you challenge trended? We’ll get to that in a bit, I just wanted to emphasize that Kizz Daniel is a ‘class’ of his own.
Like every journey up the ladder of success, its never really a smooth one and sometimes the journey is best done alone. Kizz Daniel eventually had to exit his initial record label and create his own, following the public case of a contract dispute and court case. He founded the Fly Boy Inc record label in November 2017, but not before he released his very first album which won a Headies award.
Kizz Daniel released his debut studio album, ‘New Era’, 2 years after his musical career took off and it won The Headies Award for Album of the Year. An award that was won by Olamide three years in a row, but then Kizz Daniel did his thing and stole the spotlight. Hit singles from the album were “Woju”, “Laye”, “Good Times” and “Mama”. I’m pretty sure you had them on replay at some point on your phones. Its not a question, Kizz Daniel is just contagious
In that same year, 2016, Kizz Daniel won several awards; The Nigeria Entertainment Award Afropop Artist of the Year 2016, Nigeria Entertainment Award Hottest Single of the Year 2016, City People Music Award Music Artist of the Year (Male) 2016, The Headies Best R&B/Pop Album of 2016
The Nigerian Hip Hop Star has been making waves since hitting the music scene, I definitely believe Kizz Daniel is an underrated talent, but I am also sure that he will rise in his own time. He may not be a global topic like Wizkid or Davido, but he has made international impressions.
On the 30th of December 2018, Kizz Daniel released his 2nd Studio album and his first under FlyBoy Inc titled “No Bad Songz”, the album received positive reviews from music lovers, it debuted at No 55 on the US iTunes Chart and became number 1 on the world Album Chart within 24 hours of its release.
The album contained 20 Songs including the pre-released One Ticket which he featured DMW Boss, Davido and the Star Boy himself, Wizkid on the hit Song “FOR YOU” Other features on the Album includes Nasty C, Diamond Platiumz, Philkeys, Demmie Vee, Dj Xclusive, Wretch 32, Diplo and Sarkodie.
Remember the Fvck you challenge I talked about earlier, its time to break that down because its an epic mark for Nigerian music history.
The Kizz Daniel, Fvck You challenge caught on so fast. Kizz Daniel may have started the year with a banger, but it quickly turned into a contest as fans and other musicians could not keep off the addictive tune. Numerous covers were released by fans and celebrities, everybody was trending on the glory of Kizz Daniel’s new hit. Kizz Daniel, in a twitter post, even encouraged President Buhari to join in.
Una never hear anything 😂 until Buhari do this challenge it ain’t ending fam #FvckUChallenge

With artists such as Tiwa Savage, Falz and Chidi Okereke, you need to understand how much of a hit this was. Here are a few covers for you.
Kizz Daniel has carved for himself a unique niche in the music industry. He is authentic, no one sounds like him. Despite the fact that some people have made silly comparisons, for example, the viral comparison between Kizz Daniel and Zlatan Ibile…
As someone rightly said “How can you even compare Kizz Daniel that has at least 10 hit singles, 2 hit albums, won MTV base awards, has remained consistent over the years to Zlatan?!” Please if its a joke, let’s stop it. Let’s all be guided
Comparing Zlatan to kizz Daniel is like putting Maggi in pap.
It makes no sense their style of music is extremely different.

I honestly believe Kizz Daniel deserves a lot more recognition because he is consistent, passionate, he is a lover of his fans and also a very talented young chap. Its encouraging to see someone produce his own distinct sound and not follow the trend and still make it. Kizz Daniel is by far one of Nigeria’s biggest names in Music and he deserved every bit of that recognition.
Let’s appreciate him for who he is and what he does and not debase him with meaningless comparisons. I want to charge Nigerians to appreciate those who deserve it and encourage those who do. Sometimes some people deserve both and at other times one of the two.
