In a chat with Daily Advent Osita Iheme revealed that he wasn’t at the award show due to a clash of engagements at the time. Talking about Omotola’s AMVCA win, the Osita believes the actress deserves it and asked her critics to be constructive.

About the just concluded AMVCA, were you there?

No i wasn’t. I had another event. So i couldn’t make it to the AMVCAs.

People are criticizing Omotola for winning the Best Actress at the AMVCA. What’s your take?

Why are they criticizing her? Is it that she didn’t act well in the movie. Taking a break doesn’t matter what they are looking at is the movie itself and not the time you have been away. What matters is submitting a movie for the award. A lot of movies where not submitted. So, the ones submitted, she got an award with that one. Not that the movie is the best, nor Omotola is the best but they submitted the movie which gave her her the award. Why are they criticizing her! That she stopped acting doesn’t mean anything. AMVCA didn’t see that as a criteria for not winning an award, all they said was submit your films. The people criticizing her should go and sit down.
