Utah health officials bring in mobile COVID testing sites to help meet demand

UTAH (ABC4) – The pandemic isn’t over yet, and one of the biggest clues that it’s still here might just be COVID-19 testing sites. While mass testing sites have slowly disappeared, the Utah Department of Health is bringing mobile testing sites to people across the state.

Almost half of Utahns have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine

More than 48% of all Utahns — 1.57 million — have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Utah Department of Health. And about 41.5% of Utahns — 1.349 million — are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. UDOH reported 249 new cases on Tuesday, and three more deaths.

Positive cases since the beginning of the pandemic now number 412,019. Deaths total 2,333. The three who died, all of whom were hospitalized at time of death, were:

Three more people have been killed from COVID-19 in Utah from three difference counties around the state. The state's grim total of lives lost since the pandemic reached Utah in March 2020 is now 2,333. The state does not identify those killed by the virus but family and friends often do.

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health on Tuesday said three more Utahns have died due to COVID-19 while another 249 residents tested positive for the virus. Currently, 159 Utahns are hospitalized due to the virus and an additional 2,769 vaccine doses have been administered, bringing the state’s total to 2,795,377.

Fewer than 3,100 Utahns were tested for COVID-19 on Sunday, and 160 tested positive, the Utah Department of Health reported Monday. And the percentage of positive cases was a bit below the seven-day average. Health officials also reported that 1.57 million Utahns have received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, and 1.35 million are fully vaccinated.
