ISLAMABAD: A senior member of the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) from Balochistan Munir Ahmad Khan Kakar on Monday proposed convening of a meeting of the council to take stock of the federal government’s move to file a curative second review petition in the Justice Qazi Faez Isa judgment.
Curative Review Petition? Few have heard this term in Pakistan before, so it is being easily confused with a second review petition. But the President of Pakistan has filed a “Curative Review Petition” under Article 184(3) of the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973 seeking invocation of Suo Moto powers of the Honourable Supreme Court to set aside the Judgment against the order of the majority in the Review Petitions of Justice Qazi Faez Isa and others dated 26-4-2021 [April 26].
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court in a 6-4 verdict dismissed Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s application through which he had urged the court to live stream proceedings of the court hearing of his review petition against the SC judgment on the presidential reference.A 10-member larger bench, headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial, and comprising Justice Maqbool Baqar, Justice Manzoor Ahmed Malik, Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel, Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Qazi Muhammad Amin Ahmed, and Justice Aminud Din Khan, on Tuesday, announced the order, which it had reserved on March 18th.
A petition of contempt of court has been filed against Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry.The application has been filed by the wife of Justice Qazi Faiz Esa, Serena Esa.
