New Milford to scale back COVID vaccine operation during summer months

NEW MILFORD — With thousands of vaccinations under its belt, the town’s local clinic is scaling back operations this summer as sign-ups and demand dwindle. The clinic at John Pettibone Community Center has served as a regional hub for vaccines, at its peak, doling out roughly 1,200 shots on a single Saturday.

A total of 154 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been wasted in Connecticut so far, according to the state, though that number likely will go up as demand dips and priorities shift.“At this time, vaccine wastage has continued to be extremely low,” said state Department of Health spokeswoman Maura Fitzgerald.
