ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Albemarle County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a jury duty scam. According to a release, the caller poses as a Deputy Layne or Deputy Lyons and claims the person is going to be arrested for not appearing for jury duty. The scammer then says the person can avoid arrest by paying a fine. The sheriff's office says it has recently received an increased number of calls from victims regarding this scam.
