Fire Crews Put Out Fire Engulfing Barn

A barn was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived in rural Alameda County Tuesday morning to put it, a fire spokeswoman said. The fire was reported at 8:53 a.m. in the vicinity of 19000 Mines Road, Alameda County Fire Department spokeswoman Jo Leal said. The location is difficult to get to and there are no fire hydrants in the area, Leal said. Besides being engulfed in flames, the metal roof was on the verge of collapse when firefighters got there. The roof did eventually collapse partially, Leal said.
