This service provides rides for medical appointments, errands, employment and formal social programs for those 60 and older and people with a disability. In the middle of the pandemic, the $6 one-way trip fee was waived, but it’s coming back the first day of July.
RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - American Airlines has canceled hundreds of flights due to staffing shortages and bad weather. The airline is projecting 50 to 80 flight cancelations a day through mid-July. Nine out of the first 15 days of June had weather that impacted flights which in turn affected the crew’s schedules, often causing them to reroute, creating staffing shortages.
FAIR LAKES, VA — An early morning townhouse fire in Fair Lakes caused more than $463,000 in damage and displaced four people, according to a Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department blog post. Arriving units found a large volume of fire extending through the roof and from the second floor of a three-story, end unit townhouse, according to the blog post.

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Two dogs were killed on Sunday night in a house fire in Richmond. Crews were called to the scene in the 3700 block of Stockton Street around 10:17 p.m. At the scene, firefighters saw smoke coming from the front door and started their attack.

Police confirmed an officer attempted a traffic stop for expired registration just before 2 a.m. on Jefferson Davis Highway. Video sent in by a viewer showed the police chase that followed.

The Ashland Volunteer Fire Company accounted the passing of Retired Deputy Chief Gayle “Bear” Carneal via Facebook post. Comments under the post described Carneal as a man with a “warm smile,” “big hugs” and good jokes.

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Richmond detective are investigating a Saturday night shooting in Shockoe Bottom that left four people with gunshot wounds. Police were called to the 200 block of Crane Street, near an Exxon gas station and several downtown parking lots, at around 1:27 a.m. for reports of a shooting.
