TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Toledo Fire and Rescue responded to a crash involving four people in four separate vehicles early Saturday morning. It happened just after 2:30am Saturday at the intersection of Douglas and West Sylvania Avenue. According to first responders on scene, two drivers in two separate vehicles were extricated and taken to Toledo Hospital with serious injuries.
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - One person is dead and three others injured after three separate shootings overnight in Toledo. Toledo Police responded to a shooting just before midnight Friday on 2926 Rockwood Place, near Detroit Avenue. Police say Eric Hopkins, 27, was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The sports landscape in Ohio could see a significant shift if the state House of Representatives follows the Senate’s lead in passing legislation to allow college athletes to accept paid endorsements and legalize sports betting. “In a very divisive time in our society, sports is one of the few things that unite us,” said Sen. Niraj Antani (R-Miamisburg) Wednesday as the Senate prepared to vote on the sports betting bill that he co-sponsored.
People across the area are taking part in what's called "The Longest Day," a day to support and raise money for the Alzheimer's Association. For one local man, Chris Heerdegen, this day means a bit more to him. Chris' goal for "Rowing to Remember" was to row a total of 72 miles in honor of his father and grandfather who both lost their lives to Alzheimer's.
A few days ago, the Detroit Tigers had two veteran catchers on the injured list. Now they have none. Grayson Greiner was reinstated from the injured list on Friday and then optioned to Triple-A Toledo. The moves leave little doubt that Eric Haase and Jake Rogers are the Tigers’ primary catchers, at least for the immediate future.
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - It’s been seven months since the area has had any severe weather and two years since the last tornado... and it will likely have another day tacked on to the running total. Friday’s severe weather threat increased this afternoon once a warm front moved into the area and the humidity jumped much higher, though afternoon clouds during peak heating kept the “trigger” for those storms from firing.

"There's a lot of products that we just will not even be able to get this year, especially a lot of assortments that are just unavailable," said Cheri Junda, manager of Phantom Fireworks of Curtice.
SYLVANIA, Ohio (WTVG) - Summer months are typically a busy time for dealerships. This year, the buyers are out there but there are no vehicles. There is an ongoing semiconductor chip shortage that is causing a lack of inventory across the country. The problem means empty lots for local dealers and a lack of options for buyers.
An east Toledo man was hospitalized after two suspects broke into his home and beat him early Friday. Toledo Police responded to a call just after midnight of a fight in progress in the 700 block of Plymouth Street. According to a police report, Scott Cole, 52, told police two people forced their way into his home.

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Two people were injured after a car ran into a semi-truck Thursday night on Airport Hwy. A semi was eastbound on Airport before midnight when it attempted to turn north on Holland-Sylvania on a green light. Before the driver cleared the intersection, a car traveling west on Airport struck the semi.

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) -Online registration is now open for aMAYSing Kids Broadcasting Camp & Media Mentorship program. aMAYSing Kids is a non-profit working to improve reading literacy, fluency, and proficiency through teaching broadcasting fundamentals for students in Toledo entering grades 4-8. The free 4-week-long camp runs from June 28th-August 13th, and students can choose from two sessions; 9:30 am-12:30 pm or 1:30 pm-4:30 pm, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Lucas County leaders watched with honor as the final steel beam was installed on the new ballroom space being developed for the SeaGate Convention Centre. An evergreen was placed on the beam for good luck toward workers and future occupants. The ballroom and other renovations are expected to be finished in late summer 2022 when it will be renamed the Glass City Convention and Event Center.
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Toledo mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz says he will be declaring Juneteenth (June 19th) an official holiday in the City of Toledo, joining similar action from the Lucas County Commissioners and the US Federal Government. He made the announcement on social media Thursday afternoon and says he will be signing a proclamation making it official on Friday.

MONROE, Mich. (WTVG) - A Monroe Police officer shot in the line of duty while stopping two carjacking suspects in May 2020 has returned to work on a light-duty basis. Corporal Ranae Peterson was shot twice in the lower torso while attempting a traffic stop after a reported carjacking.
