A project aimed at tackling drug misuse and cutting drug-related crime in Hastings is starting to show promising results. Led by East Sussex County Council and Sussex Police, Project ADDER combines extra and targeted policing with enhanced treatment and recovery services to address the town’s high rate of drug deaths and heroin and crack cocaine use.

A routine road safety check led to a substantial quantity of cash, drugs and associated paraphernalia being found at an address in Haywards Heath. Almost 300 further offences were recorded during the operation, which took place on Saturday and Sunday (19-20 June). A teenager who had been missing from St Leonards for more than two weeks has been found safe, according to police. A spokesperson from Sussex Police said, “We are glad to report that David Ervine, 19, who had been missing from home in St Leonards since June 5, has now been found and is safe.”
