Stourport primary school wins £1,500 Tesco grant for breakfasts

A Stourport school has scooped first place and £1,500 in the Tesco community grant vote to provide free breakfasts to pupils. The cash-boost will enable St Bartholomew’s CE Primary School, at Areley Kings, to expand its breakfast club and be able to offer free breakfasts to more children.

Former Stourport paedophile jailed for rape and abuse of children

A man originally from Stourport has been jailed for 21 years for the historical rape and abuse of children. Christopher Daniel James, 60, now of Brynheulwen, Blaenannerch, raped and abused three children multiple times over a 10-year period. James, who was first arrested in August 2019, denied all offences but was found guilty of three counts of indecent assault, seven counts of attempted rape, five counts of rape, two counts of rape of a child under 13, one count of indecency with a child and four counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 following a trial at Swansea Crown Court.

Flood warnings lifted as water levels drop but motorists urged to stay away from floods

All but one of the flood warnings have been lifted across Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin although water levels remain high on the River Severn. There are still flood alerts in place for the Severn although the length of the region and hundreds of across of low lying land and some roads remain under water.
