Nathan Williams, 31, of Mount Pleasant Street, Oswaldtwistle, appeared at Preston Crown Court yesterday morning where he admitted the manslaughter of Stuart Newton in the town in February 2020. He had previously been charged with murder and stood trial last year – though a jury were unable to reach a unanimous verdict and were discharged.

Road closed as emergency services called to accident overnight

The emergency services were called to an incident on Haslingden Old Road between the junctions of Stanhill Road and Garsden Avenue in Oswaldtwistle in the early hours. A road closure had to be put in place as the accident was dealt with.

Preston: driver caught reaching speeds of 122mph

Number of coronavirus patients in East Lancashire hospitals grows again

By Sophie-May Clarke Chief Reporter A MASSIVE increase in the number of people receiving treatment with the coronavirus has been recorded. East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust was caring for 175 coronavirus patients in hospital as of Tuesday NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19 by 8am on January 11 was up from 96 on the same day the previous week.

PD Shadow helped officers in detaining the suspect after he was arrested following the theft of a motorbike. However once he had been originally stopped by the police, the man managed to get away.
