Breaking EMERGENCY services attended a road in Ryde following reports a woman was trapped in a vehicle. A car crashed into two parked cars on Playstreet Lane. The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service initially sent two ambulances on hearing three vehicles were involved, but the incident was downscaled to one ambulance.

THE Isle of Wight Met Service is warning of heavy rain in the coming days. It has issued a yellow warning for the Island, from 3am tomorrow (Friday) until 1am on Saturday. The Isle of Wight-based forecaster says spells of heavy rain will move in during the early hours of the morning, some of the rain will be torrential and persistent, leading to rainfall totals of up to 30 or 40mm in some areas.

Islanders are counting the cost of a hike in the price of the permits that allow their visitors to park in restricted zones and there are calls for the rules to be tightened, when it comes to 'residents only' parking. The Isle of Wight Council says a price review was overdue and argues that, in some commuter streets currently designated 'resident parking zones,' spaces are actually being taken by commuters using visitor permits - which means they end up parking there every day.

A power cut is affecting homes and businesses in Ryde’s busy shopping district this morning (Wednesday). Some 13 postcodes in the Union Street, St Thomas’ Street and Union Lane area are without electricity supply as a result of a fault that developed just before 09:20.
