Post Office closure in Dundee 'a bitter blow', says MSP

A Dundee MSP has branded planned post office closures in the city “a bitter blow”. SNP MSP Joe Fitzpatrick reacted to the news that the Menzieshill Post Office in the Spar would be closing. Earlier this month, it was announced that nine Post Office counters across Tayside and Fife would be closing, due to financial reasons.

The couple, who have two more Marmadukes cafés on Norfolk Row and Cambridge Street in the city centre, have been hard at work to transform the historic Post Office building for the last two years.

The Bank of England banknote entered circulation on Wednesday. Ahmed Butt, postmaster for Bletchley Post Office in Buckinghamshire, said: “Many of my customers feel more comfortable dealing in cash.”

The newly-designed £50 note has entered circulation today, coinciding with what would have been Alan Turing's birthday. Chorley's new permanent Post Office has opened. The new location is at the former Royal Bank of Scotland on Market Street in the town centre. Since the Post Office that was based at WH Smith on New Market Street came to and end when that store closed in January, it relocated to a temporary unit in Market Walk until a permanent solution could be found..

Opening date for new Post Office in Pontarddulais revealed

Pontarddulais Post Office will relocate to a new premises next month. The Post Office has agreed the move into Family Shopper at 27-29 St Teilo Street, which will open on Monday, July 26 at 1pm. The previous branch at 156 St Teilo Street, Pontarddulais closed on Tuesday, May 25, due to the resignation of the Postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises.

A Post Office service has returned to Newport after 18 months, after a retirement village offered space in their newly built clubhouse. The outreach service is run by Richard Silcock the Postmaster for Felsted and is available every Wednesday and Thursday from 9am to 12noon in The Lodge on Fallow Drive, off Bury Water Lane.
