James Gibbons had a frustrating year, limited to 12 games because of injury, the first real setback for the 23-year-old right back who had become a popular and reliable fixture of the side since breaking into the team in September 2017.

Port Vale's Lorne Street Stand was opened in 1999 Port Vale fans are re-launching a plan to help finish the Lorne Street Stand. The stand was opened in 1999 but the side closest to the Hamil End was never completed. Owners Carol and Kevin Shanahan installed seats in that part of the stand last year in preparation for the Robbie Williams concert and, in the longer term, for football games.

Sam Hornby has today signed a two-year contract extension - keeping him at the Utilita Energy Stadium until at least the end of the 2022/23 season. The goalkeeper was offered a new deal following the conclusion of the 2020/21 campaign, when his existing two-year agreement had expired. Hornby made his league debut for the Bantams in December, before going on to play a further 17 times last season.

Luke Hannant makes Cambridge United exit

Luke Hannant has turned down the offer of a new contract at Cambridge United. The 27-year-old midfielder will depart after two years at the Abbey Stadium, having joined from Port Vale in the summer of 2019. Hannant was returning to the U's having previously been part of the youth set-up at the club, although he was released as an 18-year-old and fought his way back up through the non-League system, and spells with Dereham Town, Team Northumbria and Gateshead.
