JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Lawmakers are waiting to learn whether the Governor will call them back for a special session to put a medical marijuana program in place. Meanwhile, one elected official says he doesn’t want his agency involved. “This is not what the people wanted,” said Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson.

Toddler’s death ruled homicide; bond set for suspect arrested in disappearance

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office has ruled the manner of death of Nevaeh Allen, 2, as a homicide but the exact cause of death is pending further tests. Authorities said the toddler’s body was found in Mississippi on Sunday, Sept. 26, the same day her stepfather was arrested in connection with the investigation into her disappearance.

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The Kemper County Sheriff’s Department has new information on the search for 79-year-old Molly Ruth Netherland. A search and rescue K-9 has captured the scent of Netherland going down Highway 495 south. Since the scent was picked up, officials have had to stop the search but are continuing the morning of Monday the 27.

Southaven Police said they were notified Friday, September 24th, about the post with “contained threatening language directed towards the Mid-South Fair.” They said detectives tracked down the poster, who lived in Memphis.

MADISON, Miss. (AP) — Melody Bruce Musgrove, former director of the Office of Special Education Programs for the U.S. Department of Education and wife of former Mississippi Gov. Ronnie Musgrove, died Monday. She was 61. She died at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where she was being treated for leukemia, according to an obituary provided by her family.
