Funeral of 'amazing' teacher to be shown on the internet

THE funeral of a popular teacher at a Malvern school who has died at the age of 83 will be shown on the internet, the family have said. We previously reported Mark Ranasinghe who worked at The Chase School in the 1980s and 1990s before retirement, died on September 30 after a short illness in hospital.

Isabel Jones, a member of Extinction Rebellion's Malvern group, is walking all the way to Glasgow ahead of the COP26 summit. New business support system opens in Worcestershire's libraries

A NEW business support network involving Worcestershire's libraries has now launched. The Business and IP Centre (BIPC) allows county businesses to access free support and advice in the library. The scheme has been launched at six county libraries: Bromsgrove, Evesham, Kidderminster, Malvern, Redditch and Worcester's The Hive.

20 NEW electric vehicle charging points will be installed in Malvern. Plans to expand the number of chargers were backed by councillors at a meeting of Malvern Hills District Council's executive committee on October 19. The new additions will include four in The Council House car park off Avenue Road and six in Link Top, off Newtown Road, in Great Malvern.

A WOMAN from Malvern is ending her year-long climate vigil after more than 11 months of meditation. Satya Robyn began her vigil, sitting for an hour every day in silent meditation, last November, and her final day is approaching. Mrs Robyn runs the Bright Earth Buddhist temple in Malvern with her husband Kaspa and works as a psychotherapist.

WORK on 63 new homes in Malvern has been completed. Platform Housing has completed the new homes at Charlock Road and held an opening ceremony for the development. The homes are a mixture of rented accommodation and shared ownership houses, some of which have solar panels and electric car charging points installed.

Railway fare dodgers fined after not paying for Malvern tickets

RAILWAY fare dodgers have been fined for not buying a ticket before travelling from Malvern. Arielson Oliver was found guilty in absence by the courts in September after he did not buy a ticket while travelling from Malvern Link on April 27 this year. The 32 year-old, of Elgar Avenue, Malvern, was convicted by magistrates in Worcester after Great Western Railway brought the charge against him.

Emergency crews rush to van fire

Fire crews have responded to a van that was engulfed in flames in Malvern. The vehicle was on fire in North Malvern Road just after 4pm on Monday, October 18. A video sent into the Worcester News showed a fire engine arriving on the scene to find the vehicle well alight along with fuel running away from the vehicle, producing clouds of thick black smoke just outside a residential property.
