The Osceola Police Department confirmed with KCCI that crews are responding to a fire at the airport. On Tuesday evening a fire started at one of the airport's hangars. Monday marks three years since several tornadoes ripped across central Iowa. The National Weather Service reported 21 tornadoes on July 19, 2018. The storms are tied with June 7, 1984, for the fifth-most tornadoes to touch down in Iowa in one day since reliable records began in 1980.
A 16-year-old boy recovering from injuries suffered during an accident on Adventureland’s Raging River ride continues to show small signs of improvement, according to a family attorney. The attorney representing the Jaramillo family told KCCI that David Jaramillo Jr. remains in critical care, but his vision is improving, and he can recognize and respond to his family.
As the trial for the man accused of killing Mollie Tibbetts begins, KCCI looks back on Tibbetts’ life and memory nearly three years later. Tibbetts was a University of Iowa student from Brooklyn, Iowa. She went missing in July 2018 while on a run. The raft involved in a fatal accident on Adventureland’s Raging River ride underwent repairs hours before the accident occurred, according to an amusement accident report. An accident report from the Iowa Division of Labor indicates that raft No. 2, which held the Jaramillo family when the accident occurred, was pulled from the ride along with other rafts earlier in the day due to deflated air bladders.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources said a crop duster dumped more than a dozen gallons of insecticide before it crashed near Carroll. The Des Moines Civil and Human Rights Commission reached a settlement with a national discount dollar chain store. In October 2019, KCCI reported that two Black women tried to leave the Des Moines Family Dollar, but when they tried to leave the doors were locked. They were not allowed to leave until the store searched their purses.
