A hole in Interstate 59 forced some lane closures today. The hole is in an I-59 bridge, which crosses over Edwards Lake Road in the Trussville area. The left northbound lane of Interstate 59 over Edwards Lake Road in Birmingham has been closed after pieces of the interstate fell through, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. ALEA officials said patchwork had been done on that area by ALDOT and that is what fell through.
Gunfire erupted between two vehicles midday Tuesday in Bessemer, sending one person to the hospital.
