£20m bid made to revive Clacton town centre

Leaders in Clacton have bid for £20million to revive the town centre as part of a Government fund following the devastating impact of coronavirus. The bid has been submitted by Tendring District Council (TDC), working with Essex County Council (ECC), to the Government's Levelling Up Fund.

Upcoming road closures in Epping Forest including one lasting 43 days More roads in Epping Forest are set to be temporarily closed for roadworks during next month. A notice from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the Guardian states that it is intending to make orders to close roads in Lambourne and Theydon Bois, as well as confirming that orders have been made for other closures in the district – including one due to last 43 days.

Public Health England figures show that 114,844 people in the Essex County Council area have now been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19. The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Thurrock has increased and official figures show the total is now 18,118.

There are long delays for drivers in Colchester town centre this afternoon. Drivers are facing big queues along many roads in and around the town centre including Cowdray Avenue, Balkerne Hill and the A134. Colne Bank Avenue towards the town centre is also blocked.
