(Bloomberg) -- Financial industry donors are continuing to pump money into former Citigroup executive Raymond McGuire’s long-shot bid to be New York City mayor despite his lackluster popularity among voters. Wall Street has showered McGuire with more than five times as much money as it’s given to any of his competitors, helping him top the field in fundraising as he founders at the bottom of polls for the decisive June 22 Democratic primary.
(Bloomberg) -- Mayoral hopeful Eric Adams said the city has to re-institute a controversial anti-gun unit that was disbanded after complaints and instances of force piled up. “We must go after the gangs and over-proliferation of guns in city,” said Adams in an interview with Bloomberg Television.
The city's Campaign Finance Board (CFB) released nearly $1.5 million in matching funds to former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan's mayoral campaign, a week after it upheld the funds in order to investigate possible violations .The CFB had received a complaint about a Donovan-supporting political action committee, New Start NYC, which purchased $2.74 million in television advertising in order to promote the campaign.
