Nigeria on Tuesday recorded 146 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 4,787.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 4787. However, 959 have been discharged, with 158 death recorded.



471 die in Yobe in 3 weeks

Four hundred and seventy-one people died in Yobe State in the last three weeks, the state task force on COVID-19 made the revelation on Tuesday.

Yobe State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Muhammad Lawan Gana, added that the total of 471 was put together between the last week of April and the second week of May.

He added that the casualties were recorded in Potiskum, which is the business capital of Yobe State, Nguru, Gashu’a and Damaturu the state capital.

Supreme Court affirms Ifeanyi Ubah’s election as senator

The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the appeals filed by Chief Chris Uba and Dr Obinna Uzor challenging Ifeanyi Ubah’s election as the senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District.

A five-man panel led by Justice Sylvester Ngwuta unanimously held that the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, where the suit began lacked territorial jurisdiction to entertain it.

Governors meet today to review COVID-19 strategy

Governors of the 36 states of the federation, under the aegis of the Nigeria Governors Forum, are set to hold their 8th teleconference to review the COVID-19 situation in states as well as develop strategies on how best to quickly overcome the effects of the pandemic.

Posting a photo of his wife in a battered state, the man hinted that it was his right to chastise his wife anytime she does wrong.

A Nigerian model identified as King Monye on Twitter has taken to the platform to narrate on how a married lady once offered him the sum of N150K monthly so he could serve as her boyfriend.

According to the man, the lady’s husband is not in the country and she wanted him to be more than just friends to her.

Policemen beat LASTMA officer to a pulp
Some policemen reportedly beat a senior officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Roland Fuludu, to a pulp.

It was gathered that the traffic officer was beaten by policemen led by one SP Femi Iwasokun for allegedly interfering with their job.
