There Is A Twitter War Between The Nigerian Army And Police – Nigerians Are Speaking

Since the police made the announcement that three of its officers were killed, and others injured after soldiers shot at them in Taraba State, there have been reactions from different sectors of the country.

Some notable personalities such as Shehu Sani, Femi Fani-Kayode and Aisha Yesufu have all given their opinions on the killings.

The Army had given a reply to the first Police statement which revealed the killings blaming the unfortunate incident on lack of communication as the soldiers had thoughts they were suspected kidnappers.

The Police however did not seem to fully agree with the explanation given by the Army as they called out the Army, raising some points and then posing some pertinent questions to the Army in a series of tweets for all to see.

See the questions below:

How and why was Alhaji Hamisu Bala Wadume released by the soldiers?

How could a kidnap suspect properly restrained with handcuffs by the Police escape from the hands of his military rescuers?

If Alhaji Hamisu Bala Wadume is a ‘‘victim of kidnap’’ as claimed, and properly rescued by soldiers, why was he not taken to the Army Base for documentation purposes and debriefing in line with the Standard Operating Procedure in the Nigerian Army?

Why were the Police Operatives shot at close range even after they had identified themselves as Police Officers on legitimate duty as evident in the video now in circulation?

See what Nigerians are saying about these questions:

  1. Very unfortunate development! But the two security apparatus are the main destroyers and killers of innocent Nigerians and they hate each other. And look at how the army gunned down courageous and promising/fine police officers in the name of protecting a kidnapper kingpin. Let the commander-in-chief sort out this disgracing but suspectingly deliberate national disaster.
