The South-West Governors’ Forum has shown their grief over the increase in insecurity in the region. During a visit to the leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, they revealed that they should be blamed for the death of Funke Olakunrin, who was allegedly murdered by herdsmen.
The group had admitted to the fact that they should be blamed for the insecurity issues in the region and their faces should bowed in shame.
The governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu had on Monday, lamented over the unfortunate situation eating up the region, which needed immediate attention.
He had revealed this when he led various members of the Forum on a visit to Pa Reuben Fasoranti after the funeral of the late Mrs Funke Olakunri in Akure.
He said, “We are not bastards; we are ready to protect our people. No doubt, we are faced with many security challenges. We are ready to tackle security challenges in the region because we will give good account to our people in the South West.
“All the governors are saddened by the killing of Funke, it shouldn’t have happened. It has brought us down, we should hide our face, we should be blamed.
“But we are prepared to face this challenge. It is a security challenge. Something drastic and urgent needs to be done.”
