Former aviation minister, chief Femi Fani-Kayode has hit out on those calling for the arrest of ex president, Olusegun Obasanjo over his recent open letter to president Muhammadu Buhari.
Obasanja, who was Nigeria’s president between 1999 – 2007, wrote an open letter (dated 15 July 2019) to President Buhari as an address to the many security challenges the country faces.
In the letter, Obasanjo advised the president on the way forward, while also reacting to the recent killing of Funke Olakunrin, daughter of Afenifere leader, pa Reuben Fasoranti by suspected herdsmen.
Following the letter, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association were reported to have called for the arrest of the ex president for causing division in the country with his recent letter.
Reacting, Chief Fani-Kayode has defended Obasanjo, saying he was saving the county from an impending civil war.
According to him, those who oppose him have failed to appreciate the fact they stand to suffer more in the event of a civil war, while wishing death on whoever call for the arrest of the retire general.
OBJ's letter was timely and necessary. Whoever wants him to be arrested for it should drop dead.He is attempting to save Nigeria from another civil war. Those that oppose his counsel fail to appreciate the fact that in the event of that war they will suffer more than anyone else.
