Atiku Reacts To Seyi Makinde’s Asset Declaration

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the February 23 Presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who is still challenging the result of the election has reacted to the public asset declaration move by Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde.

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, had on Monday made good his campaign promise to publicly declare his assets.

The governor, who visited the Oyo State office of the Code of Conduct Bureau in Ibadan to receive a copy of the asset declaration form, said his decision to make the assets public was in fulfillment of his electoral promise.

In his reaction, Atiku Abubakar called him a trailblazer saying his action is a testament to his integrity and accountability and worthy of emulation.

Other Nigerians also have reacted to the governor’s action, some praising him while some decided to use the opportunity to stylishly sub the former governor who news reports reveled some days ago as having used ‘discretionary’ powers as governor to gift himself and several other top political office holders during his tenure their official cars which totaled about N1bn.

According to Premium Times, it had earlier revealed that the immediate past Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, used “discretionary powers” to award cars worth over N1billion as exit package to himself, his deputy, the Secretary to the State Government and other principal officers of his government.
