The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on Friday have finally congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his re-appointment, after crying out that they were being mildly threatened by Buhari allies.
Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) vanquished Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 23rd survey.
Rev. Dr. Samson Olasupo A. Ayokunle, CAN President, who led the body’s assignment to Aso Villa, asked that God will allow Buhari have all that it takes to perform “multiple times superior to your first term”.
His discourse read to in part: “We implore that your organization would lead Nigeria to turn into the brilliance and pride of the countries in Africa and a nation numerous individuals would want to be, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. It would be ideal if you rely on this association as one that has the achievement of your organization on a fundamental level.
“In that respect, we would not cease in praying for you and speaking out about what is expected to be done from time to time in keeping with the Bible, the word of God.”
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) is as of now in a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The official board of the affiliation, numbering around 30 were led by the president, Dr. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle.
Likewise going to the gathering are the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
It was before revealed that a few individuals from CAN that there was pressure on the body to compliment President Buhari on his triumph amid the 2019 race.
Recall that the CAN had alleged that some powerful individuals working intimately with the Federal Government are mounting real pressure on its administration to pay a complimentary visit to President Muhammadu Buhari, following the result of the most recent month’s presidential election, thereby showing their support of their administration.
A source in CAN’s national official body, who trusted in Vanguard, said the weight had now turned to a form of subtle blackmail against its pioneers. He stated: “We have perceived how they are polarizing the congregation with the goal that it can’t go about as a body. The Bible says a house divided against itself can’t stand.
This is the place we get ourselves today. In the event that there’s no solidarity among us, who says the adversary can’t assault and leave? It’s extremely awful. “In the event that you realize the tension built on CAN initiative that we, as a body, need to proceed to praise the president. Be that as it may, the congregation is stating this race is dubious and we see what’s going on. Be that as it may, they are as yet mounting serious pressure. ”
They are letting us know that if we don’t congratulate him, it implies we are against him and that we are fanatic. Be that as it may, we are stating given them a chance to determine the issues (in court) before we proceed to compliment whoever wins. That is simply the circumstance we stand as the Church of God.”
In another development, CAN President, Rev Samson Ayokunle, has censured the ongoing kidnapping of a Catholic Priest, Fr. John Shekwolo, in Kaduna State. He said it was dishonorable that “shooters,”
have kept on seizing and now and then homicide guiltless natives without hesitating without being captured and indicted.” He repeated the need to rebuild Nigeria’s security engineering and rejig the administration boss to improve the nation’s unfortunate circumstance.
