Commuters in Lagos were witness to a tragic scene on Wednesday after a sand laden trailer caused the death and injury of several people along the Dorman Long bridge, at the Ojuelegba axis of Lagos.
The trailer which was said to be heading to Apapa from Ikorodu road was said to have veered to the other side of the road after the driver lost control just as it was descending from the bridge.
While struggling to maintain control of the vehicle, the trailer crashed into a unsuspecting, fully loaded commercial bus on the other side invariably causing the death and injury of several people in the bus.
As at the time of filing this report, the exact number of casualties cannot be ascertain but eyewitness estimated that 12 people are either dead or critically injured.
Member of the Lagos state emergency service were on the scene of he accident to help evacuate victims of the accident and also to remove the vehicles involved so as to ease traffic which as built up to several kilometres.
