Rangers Records First Loss By A Nigerian Club Against Gabonese Club In Confederation Cup

Former Nigerian league champions, Enugu Rangers earned an unwanted record to lose 2-1 to AS Pelican of Gabon in the first leg of a CAF Confederations Cup match played at the weekend.

Former Heartland star Nnamdi Egbujor marked his debut for the flying antelopes with the only goal for the Nigerian side.

The loss is a first by a Nigerian club to a Gabonese club in the CAF Confederation Cup in four encounters featuring clubs from both countries.

In four encounters, Nigerian clubs have won 3 matches and lost just once to any Gabonese club side.

Enugu Rangers will host AS Pelican in the return leg of the fixture at the Nnamdi Azikwe stadium in Enugu.
