Real Madrid fans will love comments by latest transfer target

Ajax manager Erik ten Hag and rising midfield star Donny van de Beek have admitted it would be difficult for the Dutch champions to keep the youngster from joining Real Madrid in comments bound to please fans of the La Liga giants.

Van de Beek starred for the Eredivisie side in a memorable 2018/19 football campaign which saw Ajax claim the domestic double and go on a giant-killing run in the Champions League which involved a shocking 4-1 win over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 22-year-old midfielder played all 90 minutes in that unforgettable night for Ajax and according to him and his manager at Ajax, Real Madrid are indeed interested in signing him and the lure of joining the 13-time European champions may just prove too much to ignore.

“We’ll do everything in our power to keep Van De Beek, but when clubs like Real Madrid come into the picture it’s difficult,” said the Ajax manager, per Squawka, concerning the speculation over the midfielder’s future.

Van de Beek on his part said: “Yes, Real Madrid are interested in me. But you go really fast. I can’t talk about what there is and isn’t. Right now, I want to concentrate on Vitesse [Arnhem].”

Ajax open their defence of the Eredivisie title against Vitesse at the GelreDome on Saturday before making the trip to Thessaloniki in Greece to face AC PAOK in a UEFA Champions League third qualifying round first leg match next Tuesday.

Van de Beek is the latest player linked with an exit from the Amsterdam ArenA following the big-money departures of Frenkie de Jong to Spanish champions Barcelona and Matthijs de Ligt to Serie A champions Juventus.

Real Madrid on their part have been busy in the 2019 summer transfer window having already brought in five players to the Spanish capital.
