SUPER EAGLES STARTING XI: Mikel missing, Chukwueze starts as Rohr names unchanged squad

Gernot Rohr, head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles have released his starting XI for the crucial semi finals clash against the Les Fennecs of Algeria. Rohr made no changes to the squad that strted in the 2-1 victory over the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the quarter final.

Samuel Chukwueze who scored Nigeria’s first goal in the quarter finals and eventually won the man of the match was again named in the attack alongside Ahmed Musa who lead the team and joint highest goal scorer Odion Ighalo who spearheads the attack.
Rohr as expected, maintained Daniel Akpeyi in goal after revealing in Saturday’s pre match conferences that he would make no changes in goal till the end of the tournament.
Skipper, Mikel Obi who is fully back from injury still remains on the bench while the trio of Wilfred Ndidi, Oghenekaro Etebo and an impressive Alex Iwobi start again in Nigeria’s midfield.
In the defence, Rohr also opted to mainted a back four comprising of Nigeria’s quarter final match winner, William Troost-Ekong and Chelsea’s Kenneth Omeruo (in the center) with Jamilu Collins and Chidozie Awaziem running down the full back positions.
The winner of today’s clash faces the winner of the Senegal vs Tunisia at the Cairo International Stadium for a shot at the trophy next Friday.
